How did you first get involved in sports?

My Aunt Jacqueline played softball at a young age. My mom loved and still does love the Mets; her fandom made me love baseball at 7 years old. Then I started playing softball at 8 and made the All-Star Team at 9.

What was your worst moment as an athlete?

In high school, I was hospitalized for schizophrenia and was in a bad place mentally for a few months. This took me away from sports and staying active, but once I was released from the hospital after a month, I got back to helping the volleyball and softball teams.

How are you involved in your sports community now?

I have various roles in the sports media world. They include Director, Producer and Camera Operator for the NFHS Network and the Tri-City Valleycats, Basketball Photographer and Videographer for the Crossover Academy in Albany, New York, Game Operations/Student Media Member for Siena College Athletics and will soon be an Athletic Communications Intern for the North Colonie Central School District. I recently also was a Shortstop/Second Base for the Sassagoula Sluggers Disney Cast Softball Team where my brother Woody Hamilton was the awesome head coach.

Why have you continued to participate in sports?

Participating in sports is fun, a great outlet and lets me help others in various ways which I enjoy.

Favorite pre-workout / pre-competition meal?

I mostly eat unhealthily, and my favorite pre-workout / pre-competition meal is a chocolate shake!

How have your goals changed over time?

When I was younger, I wanted to be a pro-athlete, then an actress, then a musician; now, I want to be a sports media worker. My goal is to work for ESPN or for a professional volleyball league.

What does success look like to you?

Success is not just having achievements on the court or in the field, but also having a positive mentality.

What advice do you have for other girls or women who are hesitant to participate in sports?

Give it a try! You’ll learn something about yourself and what you like and don’t like.
